Besides the announcement (at this year's "Blade" show) featuring The Randall "Mission Memorial" knife, a couple of additional Randall knives were shown and discussed. I promised members of the RKS (Randall Knife Society) that they would have first shot at these knives. I also promised to save/hold a few "sets" for the good members who, either could not attend the Blade show, or do not participate in the RKS "forums". All of those promises have already been fulfilled or are reserved in order to fulfill them.
I am approaching (actually it's already here) my 25th anniversary as an "Authorized" Randall Knife Dealer. I am working on a project (to be named later) to commemorate that event. In the meantime, a project I started and never really got going (Ever have one of those?) was the offering of a special series of "matched pairs" (sets, if you will) of my Stanaback Specials. These pairs will consist of 2 Stanaback Specials, one with a 4" and one with a 4 5/8" blade. They will be made identical. When I say identical, I mean every aspect of them, including the sheaths! In the past, a 4" Stanaback Spl. featured a black "basket-weaved" sheath. The longer special (4 5/8") was supplied with an "oxblood" (fancy name for cordovan or burgundy) sheath of smooth leather with an :EZE-Lap" sharpening steel attached to the front panel, via a tube pouch.
This matched pair is going to have "both" sheaths made in black basket. I have made a special arrangement with Greg Gutcher to supply the longer sheath, complete with my special stamp and Randall keeper strap snap. Both blades will come "tricked-out" as follows:

B) TB (Top bevel sharpened)
C) BCP (Bowie clip point)
D) Nickel silver single hilt
E) Aluminum & Black spacers
F) Randall supplied micarta handles (Your choice: Green canvas/ Maroon micarta/ Black micarta)

H) Compass installed
I) Wrist thong
J) Special "black basket" sheaths
K) Certificate of Authenticity
There are 9 of these sets available. A deposit of $200 is required at the time of ordering. They will be sold on a first come / first served basis. Limit is one set per customer. Just get in touch with Perry or myself and we'll let you know exactly when your particular set will be delivered. "All" sets will be completed within 24 months, beginning with my December order of this year. The delivered price will start at $1350.00 and remain set at that price, plus any additional catalog price increases that would be incurred over the span of the 24 month period.
In addition to this limited edition set, any person who orders these and takes delivery will be allowed to have first refusal on my 25th anniversary Randall knife! That project is still in the planning stages, but I can promise you folks something unique and collectable! My dealer's special has always held an excellent reputation in the collector's field. The reason for this is probably too complex for my mind to get wrapped around, but I think this is part of it. They (my Stanaback specials) have always been scarce on the "open market" due to the fact that I limit the amount that are sold. Only about 8 or 9% of my total Randall orders are made up in Stanaback Specials. (10% on a "big" order)
To put this in perspective: "ALL" Stanaback Specials ever sold have numbered far less than just "one" of the limited (1500 total) editions of the Randall Miniatures!! I think for all of the above reasons you will find this limited offering an excellent collector's value, a unique "set" and a very pleasing "package" that you can be proud to own!!
